As part of our generation expansion in Florida, FPL is "repowering" the Sanford power plant, a process that will more than double the plant's generating capacity while reducing emissions.

The Florida Ocean Alliance recently recognized FPL's repowering projects at Sanford and Fort Myers for significant reductions in air emissions and barge traffic and for the wise use of existing land.

Both projects also were presented with the Star Award, the highest safety honor the U.S. Department of Labor bestows.
