FPL Energy's Doswell plant in Virginia serves
as a prime example of the company's outstanding power generation
skills. In recent years, employees have boosted plant availability
and slashed operations and maintenance costs.
The plant's combustion turbines can operate on either oil
or gas to take advantage of changes in fuel prices and availability.
In 2001, this team added a peaking unit to the site, bringing
Doswell's total capacity to 879 megawatts.
