Recognized for Environmental Stewardship

For the fourth straight time, FPL Group received the No. 1 ranking for environmental performance among electric utilities from Innovest, an internally recognized research firm. The Innovest analysis indicates that companies that take positive and proactive measures to address environmental, social and governance factors are likely to outperform peers in stock price performance.
In 2006, FPL Group, for the second year in a row, was named one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World by Corporate Knights Inc., a Canadian media company. Chosen from a universe of 1,800 publicly-traded companies, FPL Group was cited for the honor for having among “the best developed abilities, relative to their industry peers, to manage the environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities they face.”
In 2006, FPL Group was honored as “Best in Class” for its approach to climate change by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a coalition of global investors with more than $31.5 trillion in assets. The company was one of only four entities in the North American Electric Power sector named in the prestigious “Climate Leadership Index”, an honor roll of global corporations addressing the challenges of climate change. This is the company’s third consecutive inclusion in this ranking of leaders responding to this environmental challenge.
